Setting a standard of excellence
Maje collections are created in collaboration with a network of factories and workshops located in different countries. In line with the commitments of the SMCP Group, its parent company, the brand requires its suppliers to comply with the applicable principles in terms of human rights, health and safety, business ethics and respect for the environment.
These expectations are formalised in a Supplier Code of Conduct, as well as in the General Purchasing Conditions, which set out the requirements for traceability, audit cooperation and compliance with Group policies.
Suppliers commit in particular to complying with the fundamental conventions of the ILO (International Labour Organization), to obeying local laws and environmental regulations, and to accepting social audits carried out by independent third parties.
A structured audit programme
To verify compliance with these commitments, Maje uses internationally recognised audit methodologies (ICS, BSCI, SMETA, WRAP, WCA, SA8000). Under these standards, audits cover the main social issues: health and safety, working hours, pay, social protection, child labour, discrimination, harassment, freedom of association, forced labour and business ethics. At Maje, this translates into compulsory social audits of the factories where products are manufactured. Any non-compliance identified during audits is monitored by Maje teams, and factories are encouraged to correct their practices within deadlines defined according to the seriousness of the issues. In the event of a serious breach, Maje will terminate its relationship with the supplier concerned.
